Celtic Circle and Conference ‘Cook-athon’

Well, it’s been a wild week (and it’s not over yet!) as the arrival of our conference guests was shortly followed by the first meeting of the Celtic Circle. So the Bonehill Sanctuary held its first group meditation, just a month after I lit a candle of dedication and prayed that it become a sacred space from which, in some small way, spiritual light and blessing could flow out into people’s lives.
It was good to gather with other women and just be part of all the honest, down to earth, deep sharing and humour that bubbled up as we sat around the fire and walked on the land. As we approach Samhain, the old celtic turning of the year, we are beginning a journey of travelling through the sacred circle of the natural year together, drawing inspiration from the myths of our celtic ancestors and our own everyday wisdom.
As part of our meeting, we made an inner journey through guided meditation to a sacred grove where we could dip down into the deep and transformative waters of the Goddess Ceridwen. The message I received from ‘being the broth’ was to remember to fully acknowledge the dark difficulties, frustrations and despairs that regularly arise with facilitating a retreat centre and spiritual work…
After the Circle meeting, three of us stayed on to cook for the mythschool conference and so had a whole other perspective on Ceridwen’s sacred (pumpkin soup) cauldron. After a 7.30am start to the working day, it certainly felt like a ‘cook-athon’ as I finally swept the floor at 6.30pm. But it was a great time with my dear, funny friends Sue and Joyce and if you are coming to the conference you can sample delights such as ‘Mythic mulled wine’, ‘Pluto’s pizzas… from the fires of Hades’ (aka the Bonehill Aga) and Herne’s Horn of Plenty (no comment…actually it’s ratatouille!)
